The 48-year-old Hollywood actor posted a lengthy video on Instagram as he addressed his 196 million followers about the problems they have faced with coronavirus.

The Fast & Furious star said that having the virus was a different prospect to having his "a** kicked in the past" while wrestling in WWE as The Rock.

He warned his fans that it was not a pleasant experience and that they were grateful to have come out of the other side of the illness "feeling strong" as many others haven't.

Speaking to the camera from his home, Dwayne started by saying: "I want to give you guys a helpful update as to what I have been going through my end for the past two-and-a-half to three weeks now."My wife Lauren, as well as my two baby girls and myself, we have all tested positive for Covid-19 and I can tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family."

Dwayne went on to describe the effects of the virus, saying: "I’ve had my a**-kicked in the past with some challenges but testing positive for Covid-19 is much different to overcoming nasty injuries, being evicted or being broke, which I have been more than a few times."

He added that not being in control of his family's destiny wore heavy on him.

Dwayne continued: "The reason why I feel different is that my number one priority is to always protect my family and I think I can speak for us all that it is our number one priority."I wish it was only me that had tested positive but it wasn’t, it was my entire family… but I am happy to tell you guys that our family is good and that we are at the other end of it, we are on the other side.

We are no longer contagious."We have got through Covid-19 stronger and healthier and I am counting my blessings as we all have to fight this thing."

The former professional wrestler added a caption to the video in which he gave a checklist to his fans in order for them to stay safe.

He wrote in list form: "My message to all of you around the [Planet Earth emoji].

"Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family."Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings.
"Stay healthy, my friends. #controlthecontrollables"
